Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Children's Birthday Cake

Mickey Mouse has been one of children's favorite comic character for generations. It comes at no surprise then that Mickey Mouse themed cakes are a very popular request for birthdays, even first birthday cakes.

Over the years Mickey might have changed a bit but is popularity is just the same. Nowadays, a Mickey Mouse themed cake will most likely be based on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme.

This cake is covered in fondant and most of the decorative items are created from fondant as well. Only Mickey standing on top is actually a candle.

Specialty First Birthday Cake

A first birthday cake is something very special. It celebrates the first big milestone in your child's life and you will remember it and look at the pictures for many years to come.

For many parents the first birthday is often also the first occasion they let their little one eat some cake. Very often chocolate cake is chosen as flavor.

But this specific specialty first birthday cake was almond cake with apricot fruit filling and almond buttercream. A delight for the senses also for the parents.

Teardrop Piping Tutorial

Although my family really admires all the decorating possibilities with fondant cakes, they are not really fond of the taste ;)

When my sister's next birthday came around, I wanted to make a nicely decorated cake with just buttercream. So the idea to try out this teardrop piping pattern came.

As flavors I chose chocolate cake with mint chocolate buttercream filling. The outside piping was done in chocolate, mocha and mint chocolate flavored buttercream.

I used different sizes of round piping tips and a spatula to create this pattern. If you would like to find out more details on how to pipe this pattern see my post Mocha Mint Chocolate Cake with Teardrop Piping Tutorial

Farm Cake with Animal Cupcakes

This is one of the most unique requests I received for a wedding cake.

The bridal couple lives on an acreage where they also held the wedding. For their wedding cake they requested a cupcake tower with decorations of animals and vegetables that can be found on their farm.

Part of the bridal party and guests were vegan, therefore half the cupcakes including decorations were created to suit a vegan lifestyle and diet.

To learn more about this cake and see more pictures check out the Farm Animals Wedding Cupcake Tower on my blog.

Grape Vines Wedding Cake with Ruffled Fondant

This wedding cake was created for a very special couple. Coming from Calgary they celebrated their special day at a winery in Kelowna.

Fitting for the location they picked a grape vines theme for the cake. It was covered in ruffled ivory fondant.

Specialty Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to create this baby shower cake resembling a baby bottom and legs.

It is a marble cake filled with chocolate buttercream, frosted in vanilla buttercream. Baby pink and baby blue fondant bows and dots are decorating the cake as they didn’t know the gender of the baby yet.
